The planetary imperative for the evolution of industry is more important than ever before. Companies across all sectors are finally being held to account for creating change by governments, international bodies and consumers alike. Alongside the pressure of decarbonisation are exponential leaps in technology, making a far greater range of solutions possible. Global connectivity, access to information and idea sharing is faster and easier than ever before. This greater access to information and technology has led consumers to demand better, fairer models of commerce, or create them themselves. The convergence of these three mega trends - decarbonisation, technology and democratisation - are fundamentally changing the energy sector as we know it. How energy businesses respond to this change will ultimately determine their success, Flux included.
Flux began its journey as an energy retail solution in 2009, when the relationship between those that make, move, sell and consume energy was relatively simple. The Flux of today offers energy retailers a proven end-to-end solution. We tick the boxes of enhanced operator efficiency, smart meter design, multi-brand capability and super fast deployment. But this once linear relationship between energy participants has become increasingly more complex with the emergence of prosumers, distributed generation and ever more sophisticated smart meter technology. In response to this rapidly evolving climate, Flux is changing.
Over the past year, we’ve been on a journey to figure out how we can help solve tomorrow’s problems in one of the most dynamically evolving industries in the world. We listened to, discussed and analysed the problems faced by energy organisations that know the world is changing, and want to play a part in that change. Our goals are now focused on simplifying the complex engagements of energy participants for organisations that are committed to transforming themselves or the energy market; those that are taking action to reduce their carbon footprint, are ambitious for their success, and believe in the role of technology in creating change. We aim to bill complex connections, to move faster in market, to reduce cost to serve, to create a seamless customer experience and to reach new markets. The new Flux is set up to help energy retailers achieve this.
Our new guiding mission for Flux is to empower visionary companies to lead our world to a more socially and environmentally sustainable energy future. Our vision is that Flux empowers visionary companies that are leading the energy transition; enabling them to respond to changing generation, distribution and consumption models by moving faster, pricing smarter and integrating widely.
We believe our role in making this happen is to offer advisory services as an expert partner, solving for meaningful outcomes, while offering a modularised software solution in a whole or integrated, fit-for-purpose and extensible form. We offer fast and high quality service as an engaged partner, using modern technology built on the foundations of security, flexibility and cost efficiency. We want to be the partner that enables leaders of the energy transition to meet their goals.
Flux is on a journey of transformation to keep pace with the mega trends affecting our industry. Yes, we have a new logo and a different look that better reflects our new direction, but more importantly we’ve taken a critical look at our engine to answer the question, ‘what are we doing to lead our world to a cleaner, fairer and more sustainable energy future?’ We were willing to acknowledge the irrelevance of some of our core foundations, so we could transform ourselves to create meaningful change in a quickly evolving climate. The question is, will you do the same?
